Reasons why pets are good for your children
Decade after decade, the debate continues – is it good for children to grow up with pets? There are many positive reasons why children should own pets.
Let’s look what are the benefits that pets can offer:
1. Protect kids
Pets are protecting the kids even from their first days of their life.
2. Improve kid’s health
Reporting in the journal Pediatrics, researchers say that babies who grow up in homes with a pet — namely a dog or a cat — are less likely to get sick than children who live pet-free. Previous research has linked the presence of pets with a lower risk of allergies among babies.
When growing up with a pet, children learn a great deal about discipline. If they have a dog at home, they learn to train it and teach it how to listen. It’s been scientifically proven that having a dog helps children learn about discipline. Some would argue that cats discipline their owners naturally.
4. Children develop a sense of responsibility
Including children in pet-related chores is a terrific way to impart the lesson of responsibility. By assigning age-appropriate tasks like playing with the dog or feeding the cat, kids learn how important it is to follow through with their duties. After all, certain four-legged furries are counting on them!
5. Children are empathetic and compassionate
Longtime pets have the ability to sense emotional and physical changes within their owners. Pets pay attention to the feelings and emotions that are hidden deep within a human’s exterior. And without suffocating their owner with empathy, they provide an unknowing compassion that is felt between a pet and owner bond.
6. Social skils
Growing up with a pet has been proven to help kids learn social skills, impulse control, and even improve their self esteem.
7. Teach for love
Research has shown evidence and animal lovers have also confirmed that animals have the ability to feed and share a depth of emotion and social interaction. Their unconditional love and willingness to stay devoted signify the lessons and wisdom that they can teach human beings – if we just pay attention and listen.
